How it works
Cubic feet = Length × Width × (Depth ÷ 12) · Cubic yards = Cubic feet ÷ 27. A 1-inch sand bed is typical; sand weighs roughly 1.35 tons per cubic yard.
Example
A 10 × 10 ft patio with a 1 in sand bed is about 0.3 cubic yards (~0.42 tons).
