Cubic feet = Length × Width × (Depth in inches ÷ 12), then a standard bag holds 2 cubic feet.
A 2–3 inch layer is typical for beds.
Example
A 10 ft × 10 ft bed at 3 in deep needs 25 cubic feet — about 12.5 bags (0.93 cubic yards).
