How it works

Cubic feet = Length × Width × (Depth ÷ 12) · Cubic yards = Cubic feet ÷ 27. Fill dirt weighs roughly 1.25 tons per cubic yard (heavier when wet).

Example

A 10 × 10 ft area at 6 in deep is about 1.85 cubic yards (~2.3 tons).

Frequently asked questions

Should I order extra?
Yes — add about 10% for settling, spillage and uneven ground. Weights are approximate and rise when the material is wet.
